Class Cancellation

Classes may be cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances of the lecturer. In this case, you can check the Scomb in advance. If classes are cancelled due to inclement weather or railroad conditions, information will be posted on the university website by 6:00 a.m. on the day of the cancellation for classes starting in the 1st and 2nd periods, and by 10:00 a.m. on the day of the cancellation for classes starting in the 3rd period and later. As a general rule, we will not use the blackboard in the classroom to notify students. If there is no notice of class cancellation and the lecturer does not arrive at the classroom within 50 minutes of the class start time, the representative of the class should go to the Student Affairs Section for notification.

Measures for Inclement Weather

Please be sure to check the university website for the details of any measures taken, such as the cancellation of classes. Please note that no inquiries regarding this matter can be made by phone. If the measures are changed due to unavoidable circumstances, the information will be posted on the university website as needed.

Class Attendance

When you attend a class in the classroom, be sure to register your attendance by holding your student ID card over the wireless terminal installed near the classroom entrance. For first period class, attendance verification will begin 60 minutes before the start of the class, and for the third period, attendance verification will begin 30 minutes before the start of the class. For all other periods, attendance verification will begin 10 minutes before the start of the class.

Absence for Class


If you are absent from a class for an unavoidable reason, please bring a document proving the reason for absence to the Student Affairs Section or the Graduate School Section. Then , after the Absence Notification document is issued, you have to submit it to lecturer of the class. Please note that it is up to the lecturer of each class to decide how to handle absences. In some cases, class absences will not necessarily be treated as attendance, as grades results and other methods will be determined by the lecturer on this matter.

Visiting Lecturer/ Faculty Members

Full-time faculty members of the university have "office hours" once or twice a week to deal with students. During these hours, faculty members are available to answer questions, provide tutoring and consult with students in their own laboratories. Please feel free to visit them by referring to their office hours listed in the "Faculty Database" or "Syllabus".
