Creating new right-handed and left-handed molecules
The actual image of some organic molecules cannot be superimposed on their mirrored image like right and left hands. It is known that right- and left-handed molecules differ in their effectiveness when they are used in drugs. Our laboratory is creating novel right- and left-handed molecules for selectively synthesizing right-handed and left-handed drugs.

The method used to selectively synthesize right-handed or left-handed molecules is called asymmetric synthesis. Our laboratory is conducting research to foster asymmetric synthesis specialists who can play an active role in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

- High enantioselective synthesis of asymmetric compounds with a carbon or nitrogen axis
- Research on bond comforters which can be isolated at room temperatures
- Development of new optical resolution methods using the disproportionation of enantiomers
