The Knot Theory is visible, beautiful mathematics
My research area is Knot Theory, an area of geometry aimed at categorizing knots. “Knots” might conjure up an image of a bow or square knot; however, studying this field allows one to mathematically categorize the various knots in our society. The study of Knot Theory falls within the theoretical research field and plays an important role in theoretically building society’s foundations.

FOR SOCIETY
Mathematics tends to be regarded as a difficult subject to study, and it may be time-consuming to use the results of mathematical research for the betterment of society. However, this is not the case with Knot Theory, and the research results are applied to the fields of medicine, psychology, earth science, biology and chemistry, to name a few.
RESEARCH THEMES
- Development of invariants for new virtual knots
- Research on the relationship between the local deformations and invariants of virtual knots
