Angro-American Philosophy Laboratory
Philosophizing about design and engineering
While the analytical methods used in philosophy differ from those used in science, they are still quite rigorous. Modern philosophy seeks to use these techniques in various new genres that go beyond traditional themes such as knowledge, virtue and beauty. Our laboratory tackles a variety of philosophical issues related to design engineering ― from metaphysical and epistemological questions related to design, to ethical dilemmas faced by designers ― from the standpoint of contemporary British and American philosophy.
