River and Environmental Engineering Laboratory
Supporting river environmental management considering the balance between people and nature based on science and technology
Miyamoto Laboratory (River and Environmental Engineering Laboratory) is researching and developing river technologies that connect basin environmental management with local river channel design. We are studying various river engineering issues between the social environment, such as land use and economic activities in a river basin, and the natural environments, such as floods, droughts, and river ecosystems, from a synoptic framework of the river basin. Through research into riparian vegetation management, stream temperature monitoring and analysis, and their relationships with the basin topography and land uses, we aim to "realize a better regional environmental planning" with sustainability and safety.
