Applied Mathematical Science Laboratory
A computer on left hand, a pen on right hand
Software, which will provide solutions to calculus and equations problems by treating formulas as they are, is called computer algebra system. Realizing such a system will involve the use of the sophisticated algebraic theories as well as profound knowledge in computer. Our laboratory is studying the theories and application of computer algebra, in addition to relations between computer and mathematics, such as numerical analysis and image processing.

FOR SOCIETY
We study from the basics to practical applications on areas ranging from numerical simulations and computer algebra to image processing based on the set theory. We aim at creating better mathematics software as well as new mathematical theories that fit the age of computers.
RESEARCH THEMES
- Development, analysis and application of numerical and computer algebra systems
- Analyses of inverse problems of nonlinear, partial differential equations
- Research on image processing by mathematical morphology
