Investigation of stakeholders' strongly held perspectives on the suspension of a road-widening project in the Philippines

A road-widening project in the Philippines was suspended after various groups protested cutting trees, which led to the termination of the project mainly due to inconsideration of stakeholders. This paper investigates the most strongly held perspectives of 22 stakeholders about the project using their qualitative responses. The data showed the unique needs of the people and solutions that fit the project situation like earth balling for tree removal, the need for public consultations, proper urban planning, and mass transportation to include in designing the road infrastructures.
Determining the strongest perspectives of the stakeholders is essential to validate the unique needs of the people. It will give the road designers ideas and solutions about how to consider stakeholders' needs and avoid delays or project termination.
